“In 10 sessions, you feel better, 20 sessions you look better, 30 sessions you have a completely new body.” Joseph Pilates
Clinical Pilates is an exercise method which focuses on the stabilising muscles of the spine, pelvis and trunk. This results in a more controlled, efficient movement of the limbs and better overall posture, while protecting the body from injury in a variety of normal daily activities. It is a form of Pilates which modifies traditional methods (originally developed for dancers and gymnasts), using scientific research and clinical physiotherapy practice to determine the best way of doing the exercises. Clinical Pilates is used extensively and successfully in the prevention and overall management of musculoskeletal injuries and instabilities.

How does Pilates compare to yoga?
Pilates is partly inspired by yoga, but is different in one key aspect – yoga is made up of a series of static postures, while Pilates is based on putting yourself into unstable postures and challenging your body by moving the limbs.
How does Cremorne Physio’s Pilates program work?
At Cremorne Physio, we run both individual and small group clinical Pilates programs in our newly renovated rehab area on the Lower North Shore. Before entering either program, you will undergo a full individual assessment to determine your strengths and weaknesses, postural issues and details of any current problems you may be experiencing. This one hour assessment is combined with a session teaching the basic exercises of the program.
Individual sessions are conducted on our specialised Clinical Pilates equipment with a mix of floor exercises as well. A home program of floor exercises is also given to each participant. Individual sessions are ideal for people with previous injuries or current issues which may require rehabilitation, those who want to take individual sessions prior to joining a mat class or those who prefer to work at their own pace.
Our popular mat classes run for approximately 50 minutes at a number of convenient times during the week.
Numbers are limited to six people per class to ensure maximum attention and support. Classes are offered in 4 week blocks with payment made in advance of the 4 weeks. Classes must be used within 6 weeks of the purchase date.
Missed classes will not be refunded or carried over. If you are unable to attend your regular class and you let us know at least 24 hours in advance, you may make it up in another class during that 4 week block (provided there is space).
